ASAD TAKING CARE OF BABY IN INCUBATOR KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JUNE 19, 2025: Two hospitals in the Gaza Strip warned Friday, June 20, that baby formula has completely run out due to Israel’s blockade, saying an imminent “health disaster” threatens the lives of infants. Jamil Ali, director of Rantisi Hospital in Gaza City, said in a written statement that the facility is issuing “an urgent call from the heart of Gaza’s suffering” as babies face a severe crisis caused by the total depletion of baby formula. Ali said the hospital receives many children daily who suffer from malnutrition and absorption disorders, yet not a single package of formula remains. He described the situation as a “real humanitarian crisis for children and infants.” He called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to deliver baby formula and save children’s lives. Dr. Ahmed El-Ferra, director of the Tahrir Children’s and Maternity Hospital at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, also warned of an impending disaster. Ferra said that deaths among premature and other vulnerable infants could occur within 48 hours if formula supplies are not restored. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 55,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
