Man is seriously injured after being attacked on busy Birmingham road in broad daylight

A man has been attacked on a busy Birmingham road in broad daylight on Friday 20th June afternoon.

Witnesses said the man was allegedly punched, falling backwards and hitting his head on the ground.
West Midlands Police officers cordoned off Dudley Road which is a major route towards the new Midlands Metropolitan Super Hospital.

Blood stains and tissues could be seen on the pavement outside a row of shops.

West Midlands Police release a statement saying: 'We were called to Dudley Road, Birmingham (England) shortly after 12.30pm today after a man was found in the street with head injuries.

'Oficers attended to assist Ambulance Service colleagues and the man was checked for injuries.

'It is believed the man was assaulted, with enquiries now ongoing to find the person responsible.

'Anyone who saw the events leading up to what happened can contact us via 101 quoting log 2463 of 20 June.'

West Midlands Ambulance sent an ambulance and found a man with 'serious injuries' A spokesperson for the service said: 'We were called to a medical incident on Dudley Road in Winson Green just before 12.30pm and sent an ambulance to the scene.

'On arrival, crews found a man with serious injuries who, following treatment, was conveyed to hospital.'
