This is the dramatic moment a fire ripped through a yacht moored in a harbour in Taiwan.

The tourism vessel, identified as Juhang No. 58, caught fire on Friday, June 20, shortly after docking at Niaoyu Pier in Baisha Township.

Authorities said the sole occupant of the boat had to jump into the water when the fire broke out. Witnesses quickly came to his aid, who showed signs of pneumothorax, officials said.

Emergency teams first took him to the nearby Niaoyu Health Center before transferring him to the Tri-Service General Hospital Penghu Branch for specialised care.

Footage shows the burning yacht, sending a large plume of smoke across the area.

Limited road access prevented heavy firefighting equipment from reaching the scene, prompting firefighters to use portable pumps to draw seawater directly from the surrounding ocean to combat the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
