An endangered sea turtle found stuck in a forested area near a beach while upside down was rescued in Honduras.

Footage shows the 3ft-long marine animal lying on its back, struggling to flip over in Colon.

Local authorities along with concerned residents lifted the animal and helped it make its way back to the sea.

A fisherman was seen pulling the sea creature with a rope while police officers guided them from the side until they reached the water.

The reptile was then seen swimming back into the depths while Good Samaritans and officers watched behind.

Sea turtles are listed under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, with most species classified as either endangered or critically endangered.

Major threats include habitat loss, poaching, climate change, and accidental bycatch in fishing gear.
