The warning came from the group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, in a recorded statement. He accused Israel of seeking "complete control over the region" with US support and described any potential American involvement in attacks on Iran as an attempt to "enslave and humiliate" the nation. "If the US involves in an attack and aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy, the armed forces will target its ships and warships in the Red Sea," Saree said. The Houthis and the US had agreed to a ceasefire in May, under which neither side would attack the other. However, tensions have escalated amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza and broader regional hostilities. Saree framed the conflict as a broader struggle against Israeli and American influence in the Middle East, vowing that Yemen would stand with any Arab or Islamic nation facing "Zionist aggression." He reiterated the group’s support for Palestinians in Gaza, where over 54,600 people have been killed in Israel’s offensive since October 2023. Since November, the Houthis have repeatedly attacked commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea, claiming the strikes are in solidarity with Gaza. Their attacks have intensified since March, when Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza after a two-month pause. The group has also condemned Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon and Syria, framing its actions as part of a wider resistance against US and Israeli influence in the region.
