SHOTLIST BERLIN, GERMANY (JUNE 21, 2025) (ANADOLU-ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTERS OUTSIDE GERMAN PARLIAMENT, SOME CARRYING, SIGNS, BANNERS AND PALESTINIAN FLAGS 2. WOMAN WEARING RED HEADSCARF BEING TAKEN AWAY BY POLICE OFFICERS 3. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PROTESTER THOMAS SAYING: "I am here because I take my responsibility as a German for the Shoah seriously. And that means, for me, no genocide anywhere. German involvement in a genocide is not acceptable. I see this very clearly right now in Palestine, I see it very clearly in Gaza. And I also see that similar developments are taking place in Iran. It’s a great catastrophe, and I deeply regret that our political leadership has degraded itself to the point of supplying weapons for a genocide. That means being complicit in genocide, taking responsibility for it. I cannot accept that." 4. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PROTESTER GABRIELE SAYING: "The person in the red T-shirt is saying that all boundaries have been crossed — 20,000 dead children in Gaza, the failure of food distribution. And for me, what is happening now is completely outrageous. Starving people, denying them medicine, shelling hospitals and so on." BERLIN, GERMANY - JUNE 21: Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in Berlin on Saturday, June 21, under the slogan “Together for Gaza”, calling for an immediate halt to Germany’s military support for Israel and increased humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian territory. The protest, organized by pro-Palestinian groups, began in front of the German Federal Parliament (Reichstag), where participants accused the German government of being complicit in what they described as Israel’s "genocide" in Gaza. Demonstrators then marched through the city center, demanding an end to arms exports to Israel and urging stronger diplomatic action to stop the war. Some protesters wore red clothing to symbolize their demand that Germany impose a “red line” on Israel’s military actions. Banners carried by the crowd included messages such as “Freedom for Palestine,” “Stop the Genocide,” “No to War and Occupation,” and “End Arms Supplies to Israel.” The demonstration also condemned Israel’s recent strikes on Iran, with signs reading “Stop Trump” and “No to Fascism.” A participant identified only as Thomas told Anadolu that he joined the protest as a German who opposes genocide in all forms. German involvement in a genocide is not acceptable,” he said. “I see this very clearly right now in Palestine, I see it very clearly in Gaza. And I also see that similar developments are taking place in Iran.” Thomas criticized Germany’s arms shipments to Israel as a “a great catastrophe,” adding, “I deeply regret that our political leadership has degraded itself to the point of supplying weapons for a genocide.” Another protester, Gabriele, wearing a red shirt, said: “The person in the red T-shirt is saying that all boundaries have been crossed — 20,000 dead children in Gaza… For me, what is happening now is completely outrageous. Starving people, denying them medicine, shelling hospitals…” Gabriele urged the German government to take stronger diplomatic steps to end conflicts not only in Gaza but worldwide. Police maintained tight security during the protest, with some arrests reported. Authorities estimated the crowd at around 15,000, while organizers claimed over 30,000 participants. Germany has been one of Israel’s staunchest supporters since the October 7 Hamas attacks, but the rising civilian death toll in Gaza has sparked increasing domestic protests. Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government has faced growing pressure to reassess its military aid to Israel. Reporting by Erbil Basay‌ Writing by Sibel Uygun
