US, Los Angeles: Sylmar 2 Big Rig Crash Southbound 5 Interstate
Los Angeles, United States - June 21, 2025 06/21/2025 07:39 am GMT-0700 SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Incident location: southbound Interstate 5 Freeway just north of Balboa overpass. Two big rigs were involved in a collision reported on the southbound I-5 in the truck lanes. One big rig was missing its rear axle, and the big rig traveling behind collided with the axle on the number 1 lane, leaving that big rig with significant front-end damage. Per CHP Log 0648, a Sig Alert for two hours was issued at 7:47 a.m. and 7:58 a.m. CHP requested to shut down truck lanes from the 14 Freeway to the southbound 5 Freeway. At 9:14 a.m., an extended Sig Alert was issued for an unknown duration. It is also not known if there were any injuries.
