VARIOUS OF HANDCUFFED PROTESTORSBRUSSELS, BELGIUM - JUNE 23, 2025: Pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered outside the European Council building ahead of the European Union Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Brussels on Monday, June 23. The protest aimed to draw attention to the situation in Gaza and to call on EU member states to take action against Israel’s military operations. Another group of demonstrators staged a protest near NATO headquarters. According to local reports, several participants from this group were detained by police during the demonstration. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 56,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
