The protest followed a terrorist attack on Sunday evening targeting the Mar Elias Church in the Douwayla neighborhood of Damascus. The assault, claimed by the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS), killed 25 people and injured 63 others. The attack was condemned by Türkiye, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, France, Iraq, and Bahrain.
