This is the comical moment a cheeky seagull was caught red-handed - breaking into a flat to steal a packet of nuts.

Cheryl Andrew, 45,

has been staying in Ullapool, in the Scottish Highlands, for work when her company put her up in a flat.

However, the electrician never expected to be joined by the hungry visitor last Thursday morning (19/6).

Footage shows the mischievous bird breaking in through the open window before knocking items off the windowsill in a frantic bid to escape.

Cheryl, who is originally from Greenock, said: "I heard whistling, and I thought someone had broken into the flat."

"But when I walked through, it was a seagull at a packet of pine nuts. "

"I have a blue and gold macaw myself, so there are always nuts lying around."

"I'm quite used to birds, so it didn't shock me too much — I think the seagull was more shocked than me."

"It all happened so quick, so cheeky."

Despite the shock and panic, the seagull soon made its way out the window and back to Ullapool skies.

Cheryl added: "Funnily enough, the flats are all named after birds — kittiwake, guillemot and cormorant, I think."
