Ten people were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rain in northwest Colombia.

Authorities said the rockslide occurred while most residents were asleep in Bello, Antioquia, at around 3:30 am on Tuesday, June 24.

Mayor Lorena Gonzalez confirmed that five more individuals were injured, while a total of ten homes were damaged.

More than twenty fire department units, police officers, and rescue teams have been dispatched to the area to search for possible victims and survivors.

Fifteen people are still reported missing.

Dramatic footage shows the hillside collapsing onto the residential area.

An intense downpour battered the region, causing widespread devastation, particularly in neighbourhoods such as Zamora, Santa Rita, El Mirador, and Granizal.

The Bello Fire Department has already been deployed to assist residents affected by the rains.

Authorities continue to monitor the area due to the risk of further landslides.

Located in the western Colombian Andes, Antioquia frequently experiences landslides during the rainy season. A separate incident in Sabaneta, a suburb of Medellin, claimed the lives of at least five people last month.
