PEOPLE COLLECTING ITEMS FROM ATTACKED APARTMENTTEHRAN, IRAN - JUNE 25: Israeli drone attacks on residential buildings in Tehran’s Gisha and Marzdaran districts highlighted the frightening intensity and destructive impact of the war. Many of the scientists, including eleven nuclear scientists, were killed in the Israeli attacks targeting their homes in Tehran. According to security officials, the attacks are believed to have been carried out using explosive-laden mini drones and mini missiles launched by Israeli agents from inside Iran. On June 20, an attack was carried out on a residential area in Tehran’s Gisha district. Local media reported that a nuclear scientist was killed in the drone attack on a civilian building. In the Gisha attack, the ground floors of the building suffered extensive damage. The structural columns and beams at the building’s front facade were almost completely destroyed. The extent of the damage indicates the strike directly hit the ground and first floors of the structure. Nearby buildings were also damaged in the blast. Another nuclear scientist was targeted in Tehran’s Marzdaran district. The upper floors of the five-story building where the scientist was located were hit, and the top floor was completely destroyed. A scientist, whose identity was not disclosed, was reported to have died in the attack. In another incident in Marzdaran, an assassination attempt was made on a nuclear scientist at his home. The unnamed scientist reportedly survived the attack with injuries. Burn marks and major structural deformations were observed on the ceilings and columns of the struck building. Iranian flags were seen hung on the damaged buildings in memory of the slain scientists and as a sign of solidarity. Israel launched airstrikes on several sites across Iran on June 13, including military and nuclear facilities, alleging that Tehran was on the verge of producing a nuclear bomb, a claim vehemently denied by Iran. While Iran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes, the US joined the conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday. After 12 days of aerial combat between the two regional arch-foes, Trump on Monday announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran to end their conflict.
