COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to slow down and move over after two troopers were nearly struck this month while working along state roads.

One incident occurred during a traffic stop and another while investigating a crash. Both near-misses highlight the dangers first responders face daily while serving the public.

Under South Carolina law, drivers must reduce speed and move over when approaching emergency scenes. Troopers urge motorists to stay alert and prioritize the safety of those working on the roadside.
