This is the shocking moment a scooter rider was clotheslined by a truck's tail lift when a deliveryman forgot to retract it in China.

CCTV footage shows the worker handling cargo before the clip skips ahead a few seconds, revealing a woman approaching on her scooter.

She appears not to notice the tail lift, which was left extended at eye height and crashes directly into it.

Her helmet is sent flying off her head as she falls backwards, hitting the ground hard.

The rider can be seen moving slightly as the video ends in the industrial and tech centre of Shenzhen, Guangdong, on June 20.

Local media reported that the motorist survived but sustained serious injuries, adding that her helmet likely saved her life.

It is currently unclear whether authorities are investigating the incident.
