Restaurant tables and chairs were damaged as a storm battered Paris on Wednesday evening.

Footage captured by Fanny Seguela shows the destruction outside upmarket eateries in the Beaugrenelle district of the city.

Authorities reported that the thunderstorm brought damaging winds and torrential rain across the capital and central France, with gusts reaching 65–70 mph in Paris.

At least two people were killed amid the extreme weather conditions.

A 12-year-old boy died after a tree fell near a stream while he was trying to evacuate with his family in the Tarn-et-Garonne department.

In a separate incident, a quad bike rider was killed when he collided with a tree that had fallen across a road in north-western France.
