VARIOUS OF PEOPLE RUSHING FOR FOOD, CAUSING STAMPEDEGAZA, PALESTINE - JUNE 26, 2025: Charities distributed food to Palestinians in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in central Gaza on Thursday, June 26, in an effort to ease the hunger crisis amid ongoing conflict. The distribution effort attracted a large crowd, including many children, and turned chaotic as desperate residents rushed to get the limited supplies, triggering a stampede. Israel has kept Gaza’s main border crossings sealed since March 2, allowing only a limited number of trucks to enter. The enclave requires a minimum of 500 aid trucks per day to meet basic needs. The Israeli army has launched a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 56,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Israel claims that the onslaught aims to return around 50 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and dismantle the Palestinian resistance group. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
