Wall collapses as flash floods surge along road in the Philippines
This is the shocking moment a wall suddenly collapsed as flash floods surged along a road in the Philippines.
CCTV footage captured by Rodel Yecla shows bystanders sheltering under a waiting shed during a heavy downpour in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
A group of men, seen enjoying the rain, were walking along the waterlogged road when the concrete barrier gave way, narrowly missing two locals, on June 23.
One of them, wearing a white shirt, leaped from a metal bench just inches from being crushed, while the nearby woman frantically ran to safety.
As the barricade fell, a surge of water that had built up inside the compound gushed across the road.
Startled youngsters jumped away in fear as they witnessed what happened.
No one was reportedly injured from the incident.
The Philippines and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries are entering their annual monsoon season, marked by soaring temperatures followed by intense rainstorms.
The region's low-lying geography, inadequate drainage, and rapid urbanisation make it vulnerable to flooding.
Limited infrastructure struggles to handle the heavy rainfall, resulting in widespread flash floods.
