In a moment equal parts gruesome and hilarious, Instagram user Austin captured a cockroach’s final dance on a scorching metal roof during a brutal heatwave, over 90°F and climbing.

Filming from his bedroom window, Austin watched as the roach landed and immediately began jumping and twitching, clearly overwhelmed by the heat radiating off the metal. Just 15 seconds later, the video cuts to the insect lying motionless.

When asked why he didn’t intervene, Austin replied: **“Two reasons:
That roof is so hot, and I would have injured myself.
It was a cockroach. Lol”**

The clip has since racked up over 3 million views.

While looking out my bedroom window, I saw a cockroach land on the metal roof just outside the window. When it did, the roach started jumping around and moving erratically because of how hot the roof was. 15 seconds later, the video cuts to another clip of the cockroach dead.
