Amid the wreckage of damaged buildings, residents of Iran's capital, Tehran, shared accounts of survival following the Israeli attacks. Masoomeh, a resident of Tehran who had an office in one of the severely damaged buildings, stood among the wreckage, relieved she hadn’t been there when the attack struck. She emphasized that the building was not a military site. "This building next to here was destroyed, and this one was also impacted. Windows and walls have been severely damaged, and practically this place is unusable now," she said. Hossein Abbasian, a Tehran resident battling leukemia, also saw his home severely damaged in the attack. Just ten minutes before the attack, he was warned to leave the area. He and his family stepped outside -- and then the explosions hit. For Abbasian, coping with the loss of his home is especially difficult as he continues his fight against cancer. Video footage shows Abbasian, wearing a protective mask due to his leukemia, carefully making his way through his damaged apartment. The conflict began on June 13, when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple targets across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities. The attacks killed several senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. They came just days before Iran and the United States were expected to resume indirect nuclear negotiations in Muscat, Oman, on June 15. In retaliation, Iran launched waves of missile and drone strikes on Israel, causing casualties and damage. On Saturday, the U.S. Air Force carried out strikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites. In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday. The 12-day conflict concluded with a ceasefire between Iran and Israel on Tuesday.
