Storyline: China advances in marine energy technologies [Voice_over] Engineers in east China's Zhejiang Province are putting the final touches on a tidal power station in its efforts to develop marine energy technologies. Workers at the Jiangxia Tidal Power Station are installing the final parts of the facility's self-decision-making system which includes new control hardware. After the hardware is installed, the power station will start building software platforms and debugging. [Sound_bite] Xiang Zhili, maintenance technician, power plant: "We have upgraded the equipment with new-generation hardware, which can collect various data on our tidal generator units and more importantly, is embedded with underlying execution programs of the self-decision-making system, enabling it to accept instructions from the system and then execute them automatically." [Voice_over] Once complete, the facility's start-up, shutdown and operating parameters will all be controlled by computers. Official data predicts that the country's installed capacity of marine energy will reach 400,000 kilowatts by the year of 2030. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
