NEW YORK, US - JUNE 30, 2025: After 40 days without food, protesters in New York ended their hunger strike on Monday, June 30, with a dramatic "die-in" outside the Israeli consulate, calling attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The campaign led by peace activists began last month to protest Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and the ongoing blockade of humanitarian aid. On the last day, participants marched to the Israeli Consulate holding pro-Palestinian banners and chanting slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine” and “No support for Israel.” Police detained some protesters during the demonstration for blocking the city traffic. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has killed more than 56,500 Palestinians in a deadly onslaught in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
