LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — A mother raccoon trapped inside a gazebo was safely rescued by Strong Island Animal Rescue League after a swift emergency response earlier this week.

The organization received a call about the distressed and overheated raccoon and immediately dispatched a team to the scene on the East End of Long Island. Although the extraction wasn’t easy, rescuers prioritized the animal’s well-being and worked quickly to free her.

The homeowners, aware of a raccoon family living in the roof, agreed to leave the animals undisturbed until they move out naturally.

“This was a clear case of teamwork and compassion,” the group shared on social media. Donations to support their efforts can be made via their website.
