Motorcyclist and pedestrian distracted by phones collide on zebra crossing
This is the shocking moment a distracted motorcyclist and pedestrian collided at a zebra crossing while both were focused on their phones.
Footage shows the reckless rider operating an electric scooter while looking down at his device as he approaches the crosswalk.
The woman walking along the road was also preoccupied with her handset.
Moments later, the motorcyclist failed to brake in time, resulting in a collision with the pedestrian in Zhejiang, China.
Traffic police issued serious warnings to both parties but held the driver fully responsible for the incident on May 28.
The crash raised questions about the extent to which humans have become absorbed by their handsets, which, though branded as 'phones', have become miniature computers that function as an extension of the self - a dystopian reality with all thoughts and feelings stored as data in microchips which are rarely out of reach of the body.
