US, Los Angeles: Gavilan Hills Juniper Fire Grows to 688 Acres
Los Angeles, United States - June 30, 2025 06/30/2025 03:00 pm GMT-0700 GAVILAN HILLS, Calif. – The Juniper Fire grows to 688 Acres in Gavilan Hills and prompts evacuations. A fast-moving wildfire dubbed the "Juniper Fire" erupted Monday morning in the 19300 block of Ann Way in the Gavilan Hills area of Riverside County, quickly spreading to 688 acres and prompting urgent evacuation orders as of late afternoon. CalFire/Riverside County Fire Department reports the blaze is just 10% contained as of the latest update, with multiple evacuation zones activated and structure protection underway. The fire began around 11:30 a.m. and has rapidly grown due to dry fuels, wind, and rugged terrain. As of 4:00 p.m., Level 3 “GO” evacuation orders have been issued. Residents in these zones are urged to leave immediately for their safety. A Wireless Emergency Alert issued earlier advised evacuations for the area north of Mountain Avenue, south of Ellis Avenue, east of Post Road, and west of Highway 74. A Care and Reception Center has been established at Citrus Hills High School, located at 18150 Wood Road in Perris, to assist displaced residents. The fire exhibited a critical rate of spread throughout the day, with early reports estimating it could burn up to 1,000 acres if not quickly contained. Incident command confirmed that two heads of the fire were actively pushing toward both Post Road and Santa Rosa Mine Road. Air and ground resources have been heavily engaged in the fight. A no-divert order was issued for two large air tankers, prioritizing the Juniper Fire over other regional incidents due to the threat to life and property. Additional resources requested include: 25 engines (including 10 Type 3s) 6 water tenders 4 bulldozers 4 hand crews 1 large air tanker (LAT) 1 Type 1 According to mapping from the FIRIS Intel 24 and CalFire aircraft, the perimeter of the fire has been updated multiple times throughout the day. The latest official mapping shows a burn area of 688.6 acres. Law enforcement and emergency crews began conducting door-to-door evacuations earlier in the day, particularly near Stardust Lane and Clarissa Road, as flames approached residential properties. Multiple structures remain threatened. This is a developing situation.
