US: ICE agents detain individuals after immigration hearings in Manhattan
SHOTLIST: NEW YORK, US (JULY 1, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF MIGRANTS BEING DETAINED BY ICE OFFICERS / JOURNALISTS ASKING QUESTIONS 2. ICE AGENT ARGUING WITH IMMIGRANT AND LATER HANDCUFFING HIM 3. VARIOUS OF MIGRANTS BEING DETAINED BY ICE OFFICERS / JOURNALISTS ASKING QUESTIONS, MIGRANTS KEEPING SILENT 4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ONE FEMALE COURT OBSERVER SAYING: "We're watching this happening. This is kidnaping innocent people for nothing. But try to work hard and pursue their American dreams and come from countries where they had no opportunity. It's completely insane. This is Trump's personal army of terror. That’s kidnaping people. And it's completely insane. And we have to stop it. You can't just watch this happen. We can't. I'm a court observer. I've been seeing judges give people an opportunity. Of course, an asylum process for them to be taken out of rooms and then kidnaped forcefully by ICE agents because it's insane. It's completely illegal. There is no due process for that. " 5. VARIOUS OF ICE AGENTS WAITING OUTSIDE COURTROOM NEW YORK, US - JULY 1: Several individuals were detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents inside the Federal Plaza courthouse in Manhattan on Tuesday, July 1. The arrests occurred shortly after immigration hearings, raising new concerns among immigrant rights advocates regarding courthouse enforcement. Eyewitnesses reported seeing agents waiting in hallways and entrances, detaining individuals as soon as they leave their proceedings. ICE has defended the operation as part of targeted enforcement efforts. ICE is reportedly holding more than 59,000 people in detention facilities across the U.S. with nearly half said to have no criminal history. US President Donald Trump has made deporting undocumented immigrants a major target of his administration, after pledging at campaign rallies to go after criminals and gang members. Since Trump took office, the White House has broadened its anti-immigration program to law-abiding and even documented immigrants, drawing criticism from many US citizens for targeting law-abiding, hard-working members of the community, many who have been in the US for years.
