Patricia Pantaleon enlisted the help of her cousin Kitt to pull off the elaborate prank ahead of her graduation from the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila.

Footage shows Kitt calling Patricia's mother, Ruby, to inform her that her daughter allegedly owed 720 GBP in unpaid tuition fees.

The shocked mum is seen hanging up the phone and confronting Patricia, who then pretends to have loaned the money to a friend, with the furious mother lashing out in disbelief.

But just as emotions ran high, Patricia handed her mum a folded sheet of paper.

As Ruby read the contents, her expression quickly turned from anger to joy.

The emotional mother burst into tears upon realising her daughter, a tourism student, was actually graduating with a Latin honour.
