This is the shocking moment a giant Squid Game jump rope knocked over a child attempting the show's deadly challenge.

Footage shows two towering 50ft (15m) dolls spinning a massive rope while participants leapt together in unison to avoid being struck during the event in Bangkok, Thailand.

However, two youngsters tripped as the obstacle swung down on them.

One girl was swept off her feet by the moving cable when she misjudged her jump.

Meanwhile, the boy in front of her was struck and dragged into the air before falling sideways onto the platform.

Quick-thinking guards rushed to help the children, who were assisted by nearby adults.

The boy did not sustain any injuries from the mishap but onlookers were shocked by the game, which is modelled on the same gruesome device from Netflix series which sends competitors plunging to their demise.

Visitors can play the real-life version of the series' iconic skipping rope game, with the giant dolls swinging the rope, from June 28 to July 6.

However, unlike the Netflix series, none of the participants plunge to their deaths to have their organs harvested.

Squid Game Season 3 premiered globally on Netflix on June 27. The final season continues the intense storyline, with protagonist Seong Gi-hun returning to the deadly games after the loss of his friend Jung-bae.

The South Korean Netflix series, originally released in 2021, depicts a deadly competition where contestants play children's games for a large cash prize.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk drew inspiration from his own economic struggles, as well as issues of class disparity and capitalism in South Korea.

The show became Netflix's most-watched series and topped charts in 94 countries.
