Teenager jumps rope with leg behind his head in incredible display of flexibility
Recently, in Guangdong Province, China, a 15-year-old boy named Zhou Xiangjie drew attention by jumping rope while standing on one leg atop a metal bar of a fitness apparatus, incorporating the Chinese martial arts pose known as "Chaotian Deng."
"Chaotian Deng" is a classic balance move in Chinese martial arts. It requires one leg to stand firmly upright while the other is lifted alongside the body with the sole facing upward and toes hooked, reaching head height.
The move demands significant leg flexibility, core control, and vestibular coordination. In regular training, repetitive leg-lifting exercises are commonly used to strengthen the necessary muscle groups.
Zhou’s father explained that his son can easily jump over a hundred times in this pose, with a personal best of 203 jumps. The boy has loved martial arts since childhood and came up with this rope-jumping method on his own. He usually practices "Chaotian Deng" by standing on bricks or basketballs.
