Panda fans celebrated giant panda Xin Xin's 35th birthday at the Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City on Sunday. Met at the park gates by 'Lion Dancer' performers, visitors joined the parade leading to the birthday girl: a giant panda named Xin Xin. Xin Xin is the last giant panda left in Latin America. Born here in Mexico City, she has lived an extraordinarily long life. Giant pandas in captivity have a life expectancy of around 22 years, yet thousands have turned out here to celebrate her 35th birthday. The event drew large crowds, who waited for hours to wish a happy birthday to Xin Xin. The birthday celebration kicked off in traditionally Mexican style, with Xin Xin presented with a pinata stuffed with her favorite and only food -- fresh bamboo. For many visitors, their beloved bear is an inspiration for them to travel to the panda's motherland. Officials were present at the event from both Mexico City's government, as well as the Chinese embassy, where the cultural attache Shen Bin helped organize the event. Xin Xin means 'Heartfelt' in Mandarin, a sentiment that is clearly on display for Mexico's beloved panda bear. Shotlist: Mexico City, Mexico - June 29, 2025: 1. Various of lion dance; 2.
