An earthquake shook homes in Myanmar where residents were still reeling from a powerful tremor that killed thousands.

CCTV footage shows the quake jolting a neighbourhood in Mandalay at 7:10 am local time today, July 3.

Gates clattered and parked cars shook, sending a fresh wave of panic through the densely populated city where memories of the previous deadly quake remain raw.

The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude 4.4 quake struck 19 kilometres northeast of Myingyan at a depth of 17.2 kilometres.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties. Residents, still on edge from the previous tragedy, fled from buildings

On March 28, a powerful magnitude 7.7 quake struck Myanmar. Up to 5,352 people in Myanmar and 103 in Thailand were killed and many more were injured.
