[Voiceover] Here at the show, you can find fun — a giant monster, indoor snow, even competitive games. The IAAPA Expo Asia kicked off in Shanghai on Tuesday with market players in leisure, amusement, and theme park industries gathering to identify market opportunities in China. [Stand up] Chen Tong, Reporter: "We are not at an amusement park, but you can feel the joy here. There are over 300 market players at the show, and they have one mission — finding as many clients as possible." [Voiceover] Jason Wallace's last time in Shanghai was before the pandemic. He is back to the city with his new games to find as many businesses as possible. [Soundbite] Jason Wallace, international sales manager, The Entertainment Company: "We know the Chinese like to have fun. They like to have a lot of fun. So, these games all lend themselves perfectly to the Chinese market, but also the whole Southeast Asian market as well." [Voiceover] The "happy business" is getting larger in China. For example, China has become the second largest theme park economy in the world, with market value to reach some 7 billion US dollars in 2027. That's why theme park designers are also at the show. [Soundbite] Jan Maarten de Raad, Managing director, Jora Vision: "Our industry is very vibrant, so every park needs to do something new every four years to keep the people coming to the park. So, theme park is never finished. You have to keep innovating and changing, so that's why we are also here at the show to show people new things which they can incorporate in their existing parks." [Voiceover] Legoland will open in Shanghai this week. The Harry Potter Studio Tour and Peppa Pig will also open their parks in Shanghai. China's amusement economy has been growing fast, and industry insiders believe it will also become a crucial way to boost travel. [Soundbite] Jakob Wahl, President and CEO, International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions: "People really travel [here] to experience all those wonderful and amazing attractions, and I can tell you some of those attractions are world-class. The Legoland which will open here in Shanghai is one of the biggest Legolands which was ever built. Disneyland Resort Shanghai has 'Pirates of the Caribbean' which has a reputation of being the best attraction worldwide, and people really want to come from all across the world to experience that and see that." [Voiceover] Amusement parks have become an important destination for tourists. Shanghai Disneyland, for example, welcomed 14 million visitors in 2023, and it has already become a destination as popular as the city's other classic landmarks.
