South Sudan: Chinese peacekeepers to South Sudan provides humanitarian assistance to local hospital
The engineering and medical companies of the 15th Chinese Peacekeeping Forces to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) provided humanitarian assistance to a hospital in the city of Wau on Tuesday. The Wau Teaching Hospital mainly treats children and female patients. However, due to the area's material shortage and poor conditions, the hospital can only provide limited medical and health supplies to patients. The Chinese peacekeeping forces donated on Tuesday over 800 items in 10 categories including hygiene products and daily necessities to the hospital, effectively improving local medical and health conditions. "Here there are many patients suffering from diseases and individuals displaced by conflict and wars. They are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Therefore, we are all working together to change this situation, we are very grateful to Chinese peacekeeping contingent for providing these assistance services to the local hospitals and communities," said Lebos Lanes, a doctor with the Wau Teaching Hospital. "This humanitarian assistance is a concrete measure taken by the Chinese peacekeeping forces to spread the peace concept of 'saving lives and healing the wounded with boundless love' overseas. We will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with local governments and people, enhance peace and friendship, show the skills and professional qualities of Chinese medics, and demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of Chinese soldiers to maintaining world peace," said Zhang Xueqiang with the medical company of the 15th Chinese peacekeeping force to South Sudan (Wau).
