This is the terrifying moment an earthquake shook a home as a worshipper prayed at a shrine in Myanmar - just months after a tragic quake killed more than 5,000 in the country.

CCTV footage shows the devotee sitting in front of an altar when the tremor struck Mandalay at around 7:10 am local time today, July 3.

She quickly stood to flee but stumbled before leaving the area. A pet cat was also seen darting towards the house.

The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude 4.4 quake struck 19 kilometres northeast of Myingyan at a depth of 17.2 kilometres.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties. Residents, still on edge from the previous tragedy, fled from buildings.

On March 28, a powerful magnitude 7.7 quake struck Myanmar. Up to 5,352 people in Myanmar and 103 in Thailand were killed, and many more were injured.
