A driver stacked solar panels on the roof of an electric car to charge it.

Footage shows the black hatchback parked with several large photovoltaic modules mounted on top of the vehicle under sunny skies in Guangdong, China.

The car owner can be seen showing the battery level at 68 per cent, charging at a rate of 3.0 kilowatts on April 6.

China is the world's largest market for electric vehicles, accounting for over half of global EV sales.

As of 2024, there are more than 20 million new energy vehicles, which include battery EVs and plug-in hybrids, hitting on the roads.

Major cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing have embraced EVs because of government incentives, emissions rules, and charging networks.
