This is the terrifying moment a hapless gardener hacked down a branch - only to call out to his brother for help when the ladder wobbled dangerously.

Abu Hamas and his elder sibling decided to trim the tree in their backyard in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Footage shows Abu holding the 12ft stepladder while his sibling saws one of the branches on July 1.

When the youngster in a grey shirt successfully cut through the offshoot, it plunged to the ground, colliding with the convertible frame.

This caused Abu to dodge the falling bough, letting go of the ladder while the frantic labourer screamed in fear as the unit swung.

His brother then sprinted to the rescue and immediately held the platform.

Abu carefully clambered down to safety and visibly shaken by the near miss.

Abu said: 'We were not hurt. I thought that the branch would hit me, so I reflexively backed away in panic.

'I immediately grabbed the ladder after realising that my brother was on top. The incident felt like we were in a Final Destination movie.'
