Palestinian death toll in Gaza rises to 57,130
Storyline: The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 57,130, with 135,173 others injured since the latest round of the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct. 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said on Thursday. The death toll in Gaza has reached 6,572, with 23,132 others injured, since Israel resumed its strikes on the enclave on March 18 this year, two months after the two sides reached a truce deal. Israel cited Hamas' refusal to accept the subsequent ceasefire plan proposed by the U.S. and release Israeli detainees to justify the new round of strikes on Gaza. Statistics also show that at humanitarian aid distribution points in Gaza, 652 people have died from shootings and other causes, and at least 4,537 others have been injured.
