...LONDON, UK - JULY 4, 2025: A brief scuffle broke out outside London’s High Court on Friday (July 4) as hundreds of demonstrators gathered to protest government efforts to ban the activist group Palestine Action, which targets companies linked to Israel. The confrontation occurred when a pro-Israel supporter engaged in a heated verbal exchange with protesters. Police quickly intervened and escorted the individual away from the scene. Demonstrators carried placards condemning the UK government's move to designate Palestine Action as a proscribed organisation and chanted slogans denouncing Israel’s actions in Gaza. An order to amend the Terrorism Act 2000 and proscribe the group was passed Wednesday by the House of Commons in a 385 - 26 vote. The Lords then voted on the government's decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terror organization. A regret motion, which sought to formally condemn the ban, was defeated in a vote that saw 144 lawmakers in favor against 16. With the amendment rejected, the order to ban Palestine Action was passed. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war on Gaza, killing more than 57,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
