VARIOUS OF MUSLIMS LEAVING MOSQUE GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JULY 4: Palestinians in the Gaza Strip performed Friday prayer atop the rubble of mosques destroyed by Israeli airstrikes on (July 4). In the southern city of Khan Younis, hundreds of worshippers gathered at the ruins of Imam Muhammad al-Albani Mosque to perform the prayer. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war on Gaza, killing more than 57,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since October 2023. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave, and led to food shortages and spread of disease. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
