Severe Flooding Devastates Kerrville, Texas; Campers Missing and Dozens Dead in Central Texas Disaster
Script:
Severe flooding struck Kerrville, Texas, on July 4, 2025, as torrential rain caused the Guadalupe River to overflow rapidly, submerging vast areas and sweeping away debris. The intense scenes, captured by Chris Osmore, show the powerful floodwaters overwhelming the region and leaving behind significant destruction.
This local disaster is part of a wider flooding emergency across central Texas. Flash floods claimed at least 24 lives, and over 20 campers from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp along the river, remain missing. Officials reported that nearly a foot of rain fell within hours, catching many by surprise due to the limited warning systems in place across Kerr County.
The Guadalupe River reportedly rose 29 feet in a short span, underscoring the unpredictability and danger of flash floods in the area. Local authorities and rescue teams continue urgent search and recovery efforts.
