Indirect negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza are set to resume on Sunday in Doha, the capital of Qatar, as Hamas has been informed by mediators, according to Palestinian sources. Israel confirmed it had received Hamas' latest amendments to a ceasefire proposal. In a statement released on Saturday, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the proposed changes were "unacceptable" to Israel. However, it agreed to continue negotiations and will send a delegation to Qatar to participate in the consultations. The talks are part of ongoing international efforts to broker a truce. The ceasefire proposal reportedly includes a 60-day ceasefire, the release, in five stages, of 10 Israeli live hostages, and the handover of 18 hostage bodies, as well as the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 57,268, with 135,625 others injured, since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, according to Gaza's health authorities on Friday.
