Los Angeles, United States - July 07, 2025 07/07/2025 02:00 am GMT-0700 CAMARILLO, Calif. – On Monday morning, California Highway Patrol officers from Moorpark initiated a pursuit of a silver sedan traveling northbound on the 101 Freeway in Newbury Park. The chase was lost when the suspect exited at Ventu Park Road. Shortly thereafter, a Ventura County sheriff's deputy resumed the pursuit of possibly the same silver sedan as it continued northbound on the 101 Freeway. The deputy also lost sight of the vehicle near the Central Avenue exit. CHP Ventura received a report of a vehicle that had careened off the Central Avenue off-ramp and down the embankment of the northbound on-ramp. Deputies located the sedan on the embankment, which was smoking. When CHP Ventura officers arrived, they assisted the deputies in approaching the vehicle and found the driver unresponsive inside. Officers and deputies removed the driver from the car, and a CHP officer began performing CPR. The driver was transported to Ventura County Medical Center by the Ventura County Fire Department while CPR was in progress. A passenger in the vehicle was later located at a nearby 7-Eleven and taken into custody. The driver later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. No further details are available at this time.
