Phoenix, United States - July 07, 2025 07/07/2025 01:48 am GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – Mesa Fire Department press release: Firefighters were called to a reported fire early this morning on E. Clovis Street. First arriving crews found heavy fire conditions in the rear of the house that had become well established in the attic. Crews entered the home for a search and were able to locate and remove one victim. The crews were unable to complete a full search due to the amount of fire and the roof collapsing. After crews exited the structure defensive operations began and the fire was controlled using elevated streams from ladder trucks as well as exterior placed hand lines. Unfortunately the victim that was removed was deceased. There were no firefighter injuries. The structure remains too unstable to reenter at this time. Fire and police crews remain on scene. An investigator is on scene as well to determine cause.
