A motorist sparked chaos by driving along a railway line in India.

Footage shows a Kia Sonet navigating the tracks in Rangareddy District, Telangana, on Thursday morning, June 26.

Local media reported that the 34-year-old woman was intoxicated at the time of the incident, which led to at least 15 train services being rerouted.

Superintendent of Railway Police Chandana Deepti said the driver was behaving aggressively.

Locals were seen attempting to stop the vehicle, with some smashing the windows, while the driver appeared to hold a small object to fend them off during the confrontation.

A police spokesman said: 'A preliminary investigation revealed she had recently worked for a multinational company. She is originally from Uttar Pradesh.'

Authorities noted they are looking into possible mental health concerns and are investigating whether the incident may have been a suicide attempt.

An investigation into the case is ongoing.
