On 7th July, a major landslide occurred at the Sai Brahmin Petrol Pump in the Baddi subdivision of Himachal Pradesh, triggered by continuous heavy rainfall in the region.

The landslide struck suddenly as mud and rocks from the hillside came crashing down near the petrol pump. Fortunately, a major tragedy was averted as employees and nearby pedestrians, including women, managed to flee just in time, escaping serious harm.

While no casualties have been reported, the petrol pump has suffered significant damage.

Local residents said the risk of landslides has increased sharply due to ongoing rains, and areas like Sai Brahmin are now in a critical state. The district administration and state government have urged people to avoid venturing out unnecessarily, especially in landslide-prone zones, and to step out only in emergencies.

Authorities have issued helpline numbers and advised residents to remain alert. The weather department has issued warnings of continued heavy rainfall over the next few days, raising the threat of further landslides and flash floods.

Police and disaster response teams are monitoring the situation closely and have already initiated rescue and relief operations in affected areas. Locals are demanding immediate relief measures and enhanced safety arrangements from the government.
