VARIOUS OF CARS AND HOUSES TURNED INTO RUBBLE / TREES UPROOTED, ROADS DAMAGED AFTER FLASH FLOODS CAUSED BY GUADALUPE RIVER OVERFLOWINGTEXAS, US - JULY 7, 2025: The death toll from flash floods in Texas has risen to 104, officials confirmed on Monday, July 7. The disaster was triggered by torrential rains on July 4, causing the Guadalupe River to overflow and inundate surrounding areas. Kerr County was the hardest hit, with authorities reporting 84 fatalities, including 28 children. Search and rescue operations remain ongoing, with local officials estimating that nearly 50,000 people were in the affected zone. Texas Governor Gregg Abbott said all available resources had been mobilized to respond to the crisis. Following the catastrophe, US President Donald Trump declared Kerr County a disaster area. Republican local authorities criticized the National Weather Service, saying budget cuts under Trump’s austerity policies weakened its ability to provide timely and accurate warnings before the floods.
