Storyline Shanghai's pop-up night bus service drives after-dark consumption In Shanghai, a new nighttime bus route that connects key commercial hubs is giving the city's after-dark economy an extra boost. Operating from mid-June through early July as part of the annual Shanghai Night Festival, the service shuttles residents between five major commercial complexes including the Bund Finance Center. And the service is complimentary for shoppers who spend more than 9 U.S. dollars at any of the participating locations. In addition to free transit, riders can also enjoy lively onboard entertainment like magic shows, acrobatics, and clown performances. I think this concept is fantastic and hope it will become a regular service." [Voice_over] Commercial establishments along the nighttime bus route have rolled out an array of attractions, from vibrant fairs to unique themed dining experiences. [Sound_bite] Pan Weil, project director, Bund Finance Center: "During the entire night economy festival period, we’re launching exclusive discounts and special products. In the summer, we’ll also have more fairs and cold drink festivals, hoping to provide consumers with more choices and encourage longer stays for shopping and enjoyment."
