Due to the ongoing impact of the strongest heatwave since the beginning of 2025, a high-temperature orange alert was issued in Yuncheng, Shanxi, on July 5, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C.

To alleviate the effects of the heat on residents’ daily lives, the Tianmao Guobinfu residential community in Yuncheng has creatively adopted an “artificial rainfall” system. By spraying mist from the tops of high-rise buildings at scheduled times, the system helps lower local temperatures and improve the living environment.

The property management has installed multiple nozzles on rooftops, using high-pressure pumps to deliver water to the nozzles, forming a fine curtain of mist. This system is similar to the cooling mist devices used in gardens.

According to staff, the cost of the misting system is covered by the property fees, and the spraying schedule can be adjusted based on weather conditions and residents' needs. The mist falls from above, covering the community’s public areas like rain, effectively lowering local temperatures and improving comfort during the hot weather. Residents expressed high satisfaction, saying it felt “cool like a waterfall.”
