This is the nerve-wracking moment firemen removed an 8ft snake and stuffed it into a plastic bottle.

Dian Putri Aryani was alerted by her neighbour after they discovered the deadly Malayan krait wandering inside a house in Sumedang Regency, Indonesia.

She immediately contacted the animal rescue team on June 18.

Footage shows three rescuers capturing the black serpent at the doorway.

Moments later, one of them can be seen holding the venomous reptile while another uncoils its tail before carefully putting it into the transparent container as it wriggles to escape.

No injuries were reported from the encounter.

Dian said: 'My husband and I rushed to see the snake. It was behind the chair in the living room, and the smell was very pungent. When we saw its size, we were all afraid because it was quite large and we didn't know what kind of snake it was.'

The Malayan krait is among the most venomous snakes in Asia. Its neurotoxic venom attacks the nervous system, causing paralysis and potentially respiratory failure.

Although generally shy and reluctant to bite, its venom can be fatal without prompt medical treatment.

Since the bite is typically painless and symptoms can be delayed for several hours, people often fail to realise how serious it is.
