This is the dramatic moment a swimmer rescued a mother and her child.

A group of locals spotted the pair struggling in a river, prompting them to form a human chain in an attempt to reach them in Henan, China.

However, they were unable to pull the two to safety.

Moments later, a heroic man jumped into the water and managed to save the boy and his mother.

Footage shows the man swimming toward the pair to retrieve them before moving back to the bank, where other residents were waiting on June 22.

Upon reaching the shore, he was seen carrying the child while dragging the unconscious woman.

Concerned locals then performed CPR and revived the mother.

The victims reportedly did not sustain any injuries and have since recovered from the incident.
