Terrifying moment strong wind uprooted roof and blow onto resident's balcony
This is the terrifying moment strong winds uprooted a roof panel that blew onto a resident's balcony.
Mr Yao was lounging on the terrace during a sandstorm when the massive piece of roof flew toward his house in Shanxi, China.
The huge panel struck the window, causing heavy damage as shards shattered inside the room on April 30.
Meanwhile, he immediately sprinted into the living room to avoid being hurt.
He reportedly did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
Sandstorms are common in the region during spring due to the region's proximity to the arid deserts of northern China and Mongolia.
Seasonal winds pick up loose sand and dust, creating intense storms that can reduce visibility and cause damage to buildings, crops, and health. These storms are especially frequent between March and May, when dry conditions and strong winds combine to stir up vast amounts of dust across the northern plains.
